Our publishing history goes back to the founding of Canadian Grocer in September 1887 by John Bayne Maclean as the first weekly trade paper in Canada. The company grew by launching and acquiring publications, becoming Maclean-Hunter Publishing Co. in 1945 and then Maclean Hunter Limited in 1968 to reflect its diversification into broadcasting and cable television. We expanded in Québec with the launch of Châtelaine in 1960 and L'actualité in 1976. Maclean Hunter was acquired by Rogers Communications Inc. in 1994 which in turn established Rogers Media Inc. that today includes Rogers Publishing.

Rogers Media Inc., which reported Cdn $1.5 billion in revenues in 2010 through its parent company, includes our publishing assets, 55 radio properties including CHFI FM98 in Toronto, five multi-cultural OMNI Television stations, the five-city CITY-TV network, Rogers Sportsnet, The Shopping Channel, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
